Sperm Whale bull washes up on Norfolk Coast

The Ivory thief

A man desecrates the carcass of a Sperm Whale bull ax in had hacking off the teeth of the whales lower jaw.

Sperm whales have between 18 to 26 teeth on each side of its lower jaw which fit into sockets in the upper jaw. The teeth are cone-shaped and weigh up to 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) each.

The picture was taken in the early hours of the morning of Boxing Day 2011 at Old Hunstanton, in Norfolk, UK on the beach at Old Hunstanton, in Norfolk.
